Jan Morris (TQP Queer Book Club)

This time we will be talking about the extraordinary and well-loved travel writer, historian, farm-owner in Wales and transperson Jane Morris.

During the event, we want to focus on the person and their holistic output, so there is no prescribed book. Instead, everyone is invited to bring what they consider appropriate to honour and talk about Jan Morris.

I am very much looking forward to this meeting, honouring JM. You might be interested in this blogpost on Morris’s transition memoir, “Conundrum” I’ve written after we discussed it in my LGBT reading group last year. Jan Morris’s Conundrum – a period piece? – Lord Henry Wotton

Olá! Recently read Trieste and the Meaning of Nowhere after seeing her obit in the Guardian. Truly impressed to the point I want to imbide in the tastes and flavours of the city awash with poetry, prose, music and coffee: from James Joyce and Rainer Maria Rilke to illy coffee and gay Italian poet Umberto Saba. Looking forward to the spirit of open dialogue!

I’m still hopeful that one of the four books I ordered arrives in time for me to read it before the meeting…
