Useful tools for bad body days
I think even if you do not have frequently body issues – it might be not unknown to you having a bad body day. Or maybe you feel far away from typical gay worlds pressure based on how “hot”, “buff”, “hunky” one’s body is. Did you overcome that or do still feel uncomfy becaus gay male societies pressure?

• Ideas to lift up your bodymood?
• Any strategies, useful links, empowering role models you can recommend?

Hello Jordi and nice to read this topic. I’m a woman so love the work of Christa Lei who is running an Instagram account at https://www.instagram.com/supchrista/. She is very bodypositive and has a very good vibe for me. Have a look!

Tbh I just ride out those days. I’d love to have a tool or suggestions how I could turn those feelings around!

Wow… that’s an interesting question I never thought about… so I kept on thinking yesterday after reading it.

One thing that came up is I actually love the name “bad body (feeling) days” this sounds to me like bad hair days, which I associate a lot with funny (rather than bad) looks. It’s also temporary, whereas for me bad body feeling never had a time attached to it. But thinking of it as a bad body day already limits the feeling in some way - and gives it the “yeah, it will be over soon”-quality.

I’m still thinking about strategies to overcome such days - though I think simply framing the feeling as along the lines of a bad hair day is already really useful!

Thanks!!

I’m also thinking. I never questioned if I have any tools for it. Interesting thought!

Thank you @Teresa Teresa for that reference. Supchrista is really inspiring - I like the way she connects different topics with a good vibe!! :star_struck:

I totally agree: very often I also ride it out tbh :see_no_evil: But to me it also sounds helpful to emphasize on the time limits of bad body days like a positive reframing like @Stephan mentioned in his post. From experience we know that such feelings usully disappear after a while.
Maybe we can use this experience more on porpose: we can identify our bad body feelings more like judgemental thoughts (what they actually are often…) that are coming and going and you can observe them. Just like fishes in an aquarium that come and disappear…
On a practical level there are maybe some useful behaviors that might help: from eating chocolate, cuddling, masturbate, dance, sing… I think especially dancing and singing destracts a lot from negative thinking, because it is hardly possible to have judgemental thoughts, sorrow and fear while your body and voice is busy doing good stuff
